BIO

 

Andrea Brunais is an author and editor with a long history as a prizewinning journalist.


Her latest novel, Mercedes Wore Black, tells the story of a backpack journalist covering the Florida governor's race. Publisher Southern Yellow Pine entered it under Best Fiction in the Florida Authors and Publishers Association annual contest, and the book took Silver! Her latest work of nonfiction is Hillbilly Drug Baby, published by WriteLife and available on Amazon, B&N and elsewhere.

Brunais is editor of On the Drop Side of Yonder, a collection of essays about life in a small American town in the 1930s and 1940s. Her earlier novel, Night of the Litani, set in Lebanon against the backdrop of the civil war of 1975, earned critical acclaim. She is also the co-author, with Pam Lontos, of a book on media relations, I See Your Name Everywhere! Formerly an editorial writer with Media General and editorial page editor with Knight-Ridder, her journalism career resulted in awards such as a Robert Kennedy Journalism Award for investigative reporting and a first-place award from the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association.
